“Father of Invention”: Paul Antico

They say that necessity is the mother of invention, but in the case of AllergyEats, it was a Boston-based father of three food-allergic children who saw a need for an online guide rating the allergy-friendliness of restaurants nationwide.  After some frustrating experiences trying to find restaurants where his food-allergic children could comfortably eat, he created AllergyEats, a free app and website.

Paul Antico, Founder and CEO of AllergyEats, is a highly-respected food allergy advocate and a dynamic speaker. He is available to speak at food allergy and restaurant industry events on the following topics:

  • Tips for dining out with food allergies
  • Financial benefits of becoming an allergy-friendly business
  • The power of the “veto vote” – the food allergy community
  • Food allergy education for food service professionals
  • Industry trends
  • Traveling with food allergies

Paul served on the Board of Directors for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), both nationally and for the New England chapter, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Food Allergy Working Group, the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM’s) Advisory Pane for the Consensus Study on Food Allergies, and the National Peanut Board Food Allergy Education Advisory Council.  His company has been spotlighted in numerous media outlets, including The Today Show, Parents Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times and many more.  Before starting AllergyEats, Paul was a successful fund manager at Fidelity Investments in Boston for 17 years.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1991.
